Mickey Mantle Secret Writing

Mickey Mantle Secret Writing

A friend from the past dug up some of these special writings done by Mickey Mantle when he was at the Betty Ford REHAB.. No WAY. That is just nuts.  There is so much writing and it is really personal as one was written in a Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Nothing like this Mickey Mantle Signed Big Book has ever hit the auction block before and it never will as this is the only one of its kind! Auction Closes March 27th, 2014 at 8PM at BidAMI.com

New York Yankees – Mickey Mantle Signed Autographed Alcoholics Anonymous AA Book (With Note to Roommate at Betty Ford Clinic)

The year was 1994, and the consigner of this unique lot was staying at the Betty Ford Clinic. His roommate was the one and only Yankee legend, Mickey Mantle.

This is an Alcoholics Anonymous AA book that Mantle personalized to his roommate in the inside along with other attendees/doctors. The interior page was signed in blue ballpoint, “Bill – Thanks for makin my stay B.F.C. a little more enjoyable than it would have been you were a great roomie – Even with all the storing & talking – Your Friend Mickey Mantle.” Another item from the collection is offered in this auction (signed baseball and earplugs).

It is also important to note that the consigner was mentioned in Mantle’s biography, “The Last Boy.” Items like this are cherished within collections and you would be hard-pressed to find another inscribed book like this anywhere. It also marks a pivotal point in Mantle’s life beyond the game of baseball.
